My Favorite Design Coffee Table Books

A coffee table book is a sizable, typically hardback book that is intended to be placed on a coffee table for décor, amusement, and conversation.

Stacks of coffee table books are a stylish way to add style to your living room or create elevated designs, but they're also a means to convey who you are and what inspires you.

Both enduring favorites and recent releases are represented on this list. Whichever one you choose would be a beautiful gift for a particular someone or a wonderful addition to your home.

Here are our editors' picks for the top coffee table books of 2023.

    1. Capri Dolce Vita Coffee Table Book

Capri, a resort island dating back to the height of the Roman Empire, has long been an extraordinary destination full of ancient charm. Cherished by everyone from physician Axel Munthe, who recommended its clean air to his patients as a cure for bronchitis; to film director Jean-Luc Godard as the setting for his 1963 film Contempt; to literary icons, celebrities, poets, and the jet set, Capri boasts a rich Mediterranean spirit and style that encompasses a wealth of beauty, from gardens to villas to caves to the people walking in the lively Piazzetta, where cars are prohibited and the island’s playful attitude runs rampant. Capri Dolce Vita is a look at this fabled corner of the world through the ages and a celebration of paradise on earth.

    2. THE TOM FORD COFFEE TABLE BOOK

Arguably one of the top-searched and top-purchased fashion coffee table books, the Tom Ford book contains over 200 photographs of Ford's designs. But these photos don't come cheap, as the book retails on average for about $140 brand new. It's a steep price for a book that is more likely to be judged by its cover than cracked open and paged through.

    3. "Magnolia Table" Coffee Table Book by Joanna Gaines

Magnolia Table is infused with Joanna Gaines' warmth and passion for all things family, prepared and served straight from the heart of her home, with recipes inspired by dozens of Gaines family favorites and classic comfort selections from the couple's new Waco restaurant, Magnolia Table.

Jo believes there's no better way to celebrate family and friendship than through the art of togetherness, celebrating tradition, and sharing a great meal. Magnolia Table includes 125 classic recipes—from breakfast, lunch, and dinner to small plates, snacks, and desserts—presenting a modern selection of American classics and personal family favorites. Complemented by her love for her garden, these dishes also incorporate homegrown, seasonal produce at the peak of its flavor. Inside

Full of personal stories and beautiful photos, Magnolia Table is an invitation to share a seat at the table with Joanna Gaines and her family.
